Proposal of an efficient communication procedure for data collection systems using MQTT

Abstract(in English) In recent years, MQTT has been attracting attention as an important means of communication in the deployment of the IoT. Although MQTT is being researched and developed from various angles to realize IoT services, there are some issues such as scalability. In this paper, we propose an efficient downward communication method for large-scale data collection systems applied by MQTT. The proposed method consists of connection management by a server and tunneling in the downward direction. In other words, the server manages the information of the brokers to which the sensors are connected, and forwards the message to a specific broker using tunneling when it notifies the data. Therefore, the amount of memory used to manage the connection to the brokers can be reduced, and the amount of communication due to memory overflow is prevented. We also evaluated the communication volume of the proposed method.
