Abstract(in English) | In recent years, Web services have become common and their use has been widespread. The PNG image format is basically used in Web services, however its compression rate is lower than that of conventional JPEG images. Therefore reducing data size of PNG images is very important. However, replaceing PNG images with JPEG images is very difficult task sincetransparent colors, which are useful to make userinterface of Web services, are only supported by the PNG format. Therefore PNG images are generally compressed by color reduction. In this study, we propose a new image compression method by color reduction using a sigma-delta type cellular neural network (SD-CNN) based on brain-type information processing. |
