Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Previous works have introduced approaches to easily convey reactions using voice sound in telecommunication. Existing smartphone applications often use buttons as an input method, which requires the user to look at the screen when selecting a reaction sound, which diverts their gaze from the intended target. In this study, we implemented two types of input methods: Button input, which requires the user to tap the exact position on the screen, and flick input, which detects the sliding direction of a finger on the smartphone screen. Experiment participants used the two input methods during a remote group brainstorming to convey voice sound reactions, and reported that they were able to operate the flick input without looking at the screen.
