Abstract(in English) In recent digital coherent optical communication systems, to keep data highly confidential, research is being conducted on a shared key cryptosystem in the physical layer without relying only on encryption performed in the upper layer. In this research, we propose an approach to multi-stage in the digital domain regarding the symbol placement retention masking method. The data symbol itself is regularly changed according to the bit of the encryption key. Regarding the proposed method, for an eavesdropper who does not have a shared key to confirm the signal quality deterioration associated with the multi-stage symbol arrangement holding mask method, the BER characteristics were evaluated by hard decision-based decoding. In addition, assuming a case where an eavesdropper who does not have a shared key attempts soft decision-based decryption, we assessed how much the amount of information could be reduced as an index of cipher strength using GMI.
