Multiple Measurement Vector Approximate Message Passing Without Prior Information of Channels for Grant-Free Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access

Abstract(in English) To accommodate a large number of users efficiently, grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access (GF-NOMA) has gained much attention. As a promising scheme to perform active user detection and channel estimation, a multiple measurement vector approximate message passing (MMV-AMP) algorithm has been proposed; however, in this scheme, a base station requires large-scale fading coefficients of all users in advance. In this paper, we propose the MMV-AMP algorithm, which is incorporated into expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm to avoid prior information of the channels. Moreover, we discuss a decision criterion of the active user detection for the proposed algorithm. Throughout computer simulations, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme can estimate the channels with comparable accuracy as the conventional one and accurately perform the active user detection.
