Abstract(in English) | In large multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems, linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) filters are often utilized as low-complexity uplink multi-user detection (MUD).However, in large MIMO settings required to operate in high-frequency bands, the LMMSE filtering requires high-dimensional matrix inversion operations, leading to the prohibitively high computational burden.To address this issue, local LMMSE (LLMMSE) detection has been proposed, where a contiguous block of beams can be selected for each user device based on the MSE criterion, assuming digital beamforming at the base station (BS).However, the limited size of the resulting LLMMSE filter also deteriorates the detection capability owing to information loss induced by an excessive dimensionality reduction.To circumvent this issue, we propose to selectively combine the information from the overlapping LLMMSE filters in the bit log-likelihood ratio (LLR) domain.For further enhancing the detection reliability, this method is extended to iterative detection. Numerical results demonstrate the validity of our proposed method by evaluating the bit error rate (BER) performance and the computational cost. |
