Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Ultra-reliable and low latency communications (URLLC) is one of the main scenarios for the 5th generation mobile communications system (5G), whose use cases are time-sensitive applications such as autonomous driving. In conventional URLLC transmission, the modulation index and coding rate are usually limited to lower values to suppress the transmission error rate, and subsequently, the throughput performance is also limited. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new URLLC transmission method to achieve both high reliability and low latency in wireless transmission by using adaptive modulation and coding (AMC)-based open-loop hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ), which is a balanced combination of AMC and HARQ. The proposed method uses thresholds for AMC switching based on mutual information. By using the appropriate thresholds, we show that the proposed AMC-HARQ satisfies the requirements of URLLC and improves the throughput performance under the limited frequency band by numerical simulations. |
