A Study on How to Optimize the Transmission Power of pico-eNB in Multiband HetNets

Abstract(in English) Two types of fifth-generation (5G) mobile systems have been diffused worldwide. One is called as 5G New Radio (NR) SA (Stand Alone) which provides a complete 5G NR with a 5G core network. Another type is 5G NR NSA (Non Stand Alone) which enables 5G NR deployments using existing the fourth-generation (4G) mobile systems. 5G NR NSA is the almost similar configuration as heterogeneous networks (HetNets) which combine with macrocells and picocells in the same coverage, i.e., the combination of macrocells by 4G and picocells by 5G. Accordingly, HetNet technology will become more important than ever. However, there is not sufficient research on optimizing the transmission (Tx) power of a pico-eNB with wide bandwidth in multi-band HetNets. In this paper, we investigate the optimal Tx power of a pico-eNB with a wide bandwidth in a multiband HetNet combined with a macrocell using 2.0 GHz and a picocell using 4.5 GHz, by analyzing user throughput as a function of Tx power of the pico-eNB using system-level computer simulations. Furthermore, we discuss the use rates of 1024-QAM in MCS as a function of the Tx power of the pico-eNB.
