Abstract(in English) | Graph-based compression can compact the signal energy of three-dimensional (3D) point cloud and realize high quality 3D point cloud delivery over wireless channels. However, it requires significant communication overhead for decoding operation and such a large overhead. We propose a novel scheme for wireless point cloud delivery to significantly reduce the amount of communication overhead while maintaining high reconstruction quality. For this purpose, our scheme integrates two methods: Givens rotation and non-uniform quantization. The Givens rotation transforms the GFT basis matrix into angle parameters to keep unitarity of the matrix after the compression. The angle parameters are then non-uniformly quantized into the limited number of bits based on an empirical power cumulative distribution function (CDF). Evaluation results show the proposed scheme achieves a significant overhead reduction compared with the existing graph-based point cloud delivery schemes. For example, the proposed scheme achieves 28.6% overhead reduction and 2dB gain compared with the conventional point cloud delivery scheme. |
