Quadratic Surface Clustering Based on Hyperslab Projection and Its Application to Color Artifact Removal

Abstract(in English) Color artifact removal based on local color nuclear norm (LCNN) has been proposed conventionally. LCNN relies on the fact that each local patch in a clear image forms line distribution (color line property). However, we can observe that many patches do not form a line, but a union of curve and surface distributions. Thus, for those patches, LCNN regularization cannot remove the color artifact effectively. In this study, we propose an effective method to remove the color artifact for curves and surfaces by the following three-step algorithm: We estimate the parameters of quadratic surface distributions in each local patch by using the hyperslab projection, apply clustering each surface distribution with the estimated parameters, and apply LCNN regularization to approximate each sub-cluster.
