Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) By utilizing facial mimicry phenomena and emotion contagion theories, we propose a concept of an interactive agent that amplifies smiles and improve emotional moods through the smile interactions with the user's facial expression. In this study, we prototype such a facial interaction agent and conduct an experiment to evaluate its effectiveness to facial expression change and emotional mood improvement of the subject through the interactions. As a result of the experiment, we found that the corner of subject's mouth was pulled up when the agent showed smiles according to the subject's smile in his/her positive mood. In addition, when he/she was in a negative mood, the negative emotion value decreased and the positive one increased after the interaction. As an experimental result, we got the possibility that the agent showing facial expression following to subject's smile can amplify the subject's smile and improve the mood.
