[Invited Talk] Free-space optical communications for beyond 5G

Abstract(in English) The mobile communications traffic volume has increased dramatically due to changes in lifestyles with Internet, and it is expected to increase year by year even after the commercialization of the 5th generation mobile communication system. In Beyond5G (B5G) generation, faster data speeds, lower latency, and massive connectivity are required. In this context, we explain the role that free space optics (FSO) communication systems can play to satisfy these requirements. We also describe the all-optical FSO systems that are suitable for higher speed and lower latency, as well as seamless integration with mmWave / THz wireless communication systems.
