[Invited Talk] Improving User Perceived Quality with Adaptive Video Streaming

Abstract(in English) In recent year, the percentage of Internet video traffic in the total IP traffic keeps increasing. Among Internet videos, interactive video, or videos with three or more dimensions of freedom, such as live video and VR video are becoming more and more popular. However, providing high quality of experience for Internet video users is challenging due to the limited available network bandwidth and changing network environment. We introduce our study on adaptive video streaming for live video and VR videos. By defining the quality requirements for different kinds of video streaming, and predicting the resource availability and user behavior, we design learning based adaptive algorithms to utilize the limited network resource and gain better user perceived quality.
