[Special Talk] A demonstration experiment of rapid communication in amateur radio band using 2U CubeSat HIROGARI

Abstract(in English) CubeSat “HIROGARI (OPUSAT-II)”, developed by the Small Spacecraft System Research Center (SSSRC) at Osaka Prefecture University, and Aerospace Plane Research Center (APReC) at Muroran Institute of Technology, was deployed from International Space Station (ISS) on March 14, 2021, and is currently in operation as of May 2021. The mission of “HIROGARI” is “demonstration of high-speed data transmission in the amateur radio band” as well as the deployment of ”Miura-Ori” thick panel. We develop a new high-speed communication system to improve the transmission speed and error correction capability after reviewing the specifications of the conventional mainstream communication system for amateur CubeSats. This manuscript describes results of ground test and the communication performance of on-orbit experiment until May 2021 followed by the brief description of the proposed high-speed communication system.
