A Study on Impedance Improvement of Normal Mode Helical Antenna Placed on Conductor Plate

Abstract(in English) In this research, the impedance characteristics of a normal mode helical antenna (NMHA) placed on a ground conductor plane was improved. A metal helical wire of half-wavelength in length was used as an unit antenna and the radiation resistances of 4 unit NMHA were simulated with various diameters, pitches and distances from the ground. The antenna structures of 1 to 4 unit antennas were optimized based on the above trend and enough small reflection characteristics were obtained for the 3 and 4 units NMHAs. Moreover, impedance characteristics of the 2 unit antenna were also improved by optimizing each unit dimensions to obtain the higher internal magnetic field.
