Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) IEEE 802.11ah (referred to as "11ah") is attracting attention as a new a wireless LAN standard for the IoT. The main feature of 11ah is that it can form a wider area than conventional wireless LANs, while also providing faster data transmission than conventional LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) wireless systems. In Japan. demonstration tests are underway using experimental test stations, and expectations are high for the introduction of this technology to the domestic market. In addition, 11ah is also used in the unlicensed band as conventional wireless LANs, and IP-based communication devices can be connected without modification, making it possible to construct a network at low cost. Because of these features, 11ah is being considered for use in industrial fields that want to efficiently promote digitization in a wide area. For example, it is expected to be applied to monitoring and management tasks in factories, farms, and mountainous areas. In the field of such use cases, the communication path between the AP (Access Point) and the STA (station) tends to have obstructions such as trees, walls, and buildings, and the path length tends to be longer than that of conventional wireless LANs. As a result, a surrounding environment of each of the multiple STAs connected to the AP is different. It makes difficult to optimize wireless resource by the conventional control in which only AP gathers the wireless environment information and performs calculations. On the other hand, since the frequency band available in 920MHz is limited, appropriate control of the channel is important to ensure the communication quality when the number of terminals increases. In this paper, we propose the method in which each STA, rather than an AP, gathers interference information and determine the optimal channel its BSS (Basic Service Set), which is then evaluated by computer simulation. In addition, we show the results of the software implementation from the information collection to the optimal channel setting using the actual device.
