Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In satellite laser communications, it is necessary to apply strong error-correcting codes to prevent the quality degradation caused by atmospheric scintillation. In recent years, polar codes have been attracting attention because of their relatively low computational complexity and excellent error correction capability. We have studied a one-way adaptive coding scheme that uses the frozen bits of polar codes to estimate the code rate at the receiver side without two-way interactive control signaling. On the other hand, in a fading channel, it is necessary to obtain the channel state information by inserting pilot symbols. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new rate-efficient transmission scheme that superposes a rate information of adaptive channel coding and pilot symbols in the frozen bits of the polar code. The receiver can estimate both code rate and channel state information simultaneously. Through numerical results, it is shown that the maximum throughput of the proposed method improves at 4.8% compared to the conventional method.
