A Study on Signal Modulation Schemes Based on Uniform Color Space for Digital Signage and Image Sensor Based Visible Light Communication

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we discuss a visible light communication system using a digital signage and an image sensor. The visible light communication system has to transmit data information not to obstruct the visual information. We propose modulation schemes that data information signals are superimposed on a chroma component by taking advantage of the fact that human eyes are difficult to perceive chroma difference than brightness difference. The proposed schemes uses uniform color space in which color difference perceived by human eyes corresponds to equal distance in order to realize a modulation scheme in which the data information signals are difficult to be perceived by human eyes. The effectiveness is evaluated by the communication error rate and the color difference characteristic that is based on the color difference formula defined by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE).
