Improved Method for Optical Fingerprint Positioning System on VN-CSK Communication

Abstract(in English) Indoor visible light communications are required to achieve three functions; dimming control, communications and estimating receiver's position. The VN-CSK(Variable N-parallel Code-Shift-Keying) system with MPSC (Modified Prime Sequence Code), which is one of the optical fingerprint positioning systems, has three functions necessary for illumination optical communications.However, the performance of the system depends on the location where the reference pattern is constructed and the correlation between the reference patterns. Therefore, there is an intrinsic limit value in the positioning performance. In this paper, a new position estimation algorithm, that uses the difference between the reference pattern and the received signal, is proposed. Moreover, the estimation error performance is evaluated by computer simulation through optical wireless room models. In comparison with the conventional system, the proposed system can reduce the error of the estimated position.
