Optical switch using rotation mechanism of multi-core fiber for remote operated optical fiber switching node

Abstract(in English) We are studying concatenated loop topology and remote operated optical fiber switching node as optical access network for Beyond 5G with excellent reliability, tolerance for demand variation and path selectivity. To apply the remote operated optical fiber switching node, we propose a highly power efficient and reliable opto-mechanical switch that rotates a multi-core fiber (MCF) in a cylindrical ferrule. In this paper, we numerically show an estimation of the excess loss focusing on an offset between the each core of MCF.
