Abstract(in English) | In autonomous driving systems, which has attracted much attention in recent years, sensor information of many vehicles is collected at a base station to control their operations. To collect the information from vehicles, wireless communication must be used, and 5G millimeter-wave band is suitable for it because it can accommodate a large number of users. However, because the propagation loss in high frequency band is large, a beamforming technology is considered to be applied not only at the base station but also at vehicle side. The beamforming and tracking system at the vehicle needs an adaptive beam switching according to the movement of the vehicle to prevent the degradation of communication quality due to the loss of main-lobe direction to the base station. In the conventional beam tracking scheme, a codebook-based beamforming is used, whose resolution is not high, and a relatively broad beamwidth is used to prevent the beam trancing failure. As a result, the antenna gain could not be maximized. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a highly accurate bean tracking method that utilizes adaptive beam candidates generated from two types of vehicle logs: the beam selection logs and the vehicle steering angle. By numerical results, we show that the proposed scheme has better beam tracking performance than the conventional codebook-based tracking in terms of the received power of reference signals. |
