Abstract(in English) | In low power wide area (LPWA) systems such as LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network), a combination of frequency shift keying (FSK) and direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) with chirp sequence is beneficial due to its high power efficiency and high receiver sensitivity. In general, non-coherent detection is applied to FSK due to its simplicity of implementation. However, employing non-coherent FSK in which the channel estimation and the channel equalization are not performed has a disadvantage that it cannot achieve diversity gain provided by the multipath channel. In addition, the combination of the chirp DS-SS and the non-coherent FSK incurs error floor over the multipath channel with a specific delay profile. In this paper, we propose a new transmission and detection method for the chirp DS-SS with the non-coherent FSK that is able to obtain the multipath diversity gain. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed scheme achieves higher diversity gain than the conventional non-coherent tranceiver over the multipath channels. Moreover, we show that the proposed scheme improves error rate performance over the multipath channel with the specific delay profile where the conventional scheme suffers from the error floor. |
