| Abstract(in English) | Using an ultrasonic pulse method, we evaluated wave propagation characteristics (velocity and attenunation) in the cortical bone of the equine left third metatarsal bone. HAp crystal orientations were evaluated by using the X-ray diffractometer. As a result, the distribution of longitudinal wave velocities in axial direction in the left third metatarsal bone wasdifferent from that of inflamed bone. The velocity was very low in the inflamed area. The distribution characteristics of HApcrystallites orientations was similar to that of wave velocities. In addiation, the correlation between wave velocities and integratedintensities of HAp crystal orientations was high. Some behaviors were different from those of bovine femur, which suggestedthe difference of load effect. |
