Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is desirable for ALS patients in completely locked-in state to communicate to their caregivers with a Yes/No communication aid utilizing near-infrared light. Its parameters are as follows: number of model data (2 types), combinations of bio-signals (3 types), the position of forehead (2 types) and time windows (45 types). A proposed method aims at stable and correct Yes/No answers by parameter adjustments utilizing past data and adopting an indicator. This proposed method showed high accuracy rate (70% or more) 6 times out of 9 trials, which was better than the former method with 4 times out of 9.
