Abstract(in English) | Recently, omnidirectional virtual reality (VR) video streaming has become widespread. Since the data size of omnidirectional VR video is extremely large, to compress the data, tile-based streaming that encodes the users’ viewing direction at a higher bitrate as high-quality tiles and the whole environment at a lower bitrate as low-quality tiles has been developed. In order to monitor the quality-of-experience (QoE) of tile-based VR video streaming services, it is desirable to establish a quality estimation technology that takes into account the quality factors related to tile-based VR streaming in addition to the quality factors of conventional video streaming. In this paper, we extend the ITU-T recommendation P.1203 model, which is a standardized video quality estimation technology for 2D video, to tile-based VR video streaming, and confirmed that the extended model can estimate the quality with sufficiently high accuracy by conducting subjective experiments. |
