Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a method to establish a stable wireless link for devices in non-line-of-sight (NLoS) environment using sidelink. With the development of the internet of Things (IoT) technology, a smart factory has attached more and more attentions, where all devices in the factory are connected to the network and information from the devices is collected, analyzed, and distributed in real time to manage the factory. However, due to the presence of a large number of metal objects in the factory, radio waves are shielded, and a NLoS environment easily occurs. To address this issue, a method that uses reflections from surrounding equipment can be considered, however, its validity depends largely on the layout of the factory, and the propagation path changes due to the movement of objects, etc., and therefore the stability of wireless communications is not guaranteed. In the proposed scheme, a device in the LoS (Line of Sight) condition is directly connected to the base station, whereas a device in the NLoS condition is connected to a nearby device located in the LoS condition. As a result, a device in the NLoS condition is equivalently considered to be located in the LoS conditions. Computer simulation concluded that the proposed scheme is very effective in enhancement of area coverage rate.
