Abstract(in English) | This study provides the experimental evaluations for afterimage-based Alamouti-type Spatio-temporal coding (STC) in image sensor communication (ISC) using a rotary LED transmitter that is a device developed in our previous study. The transmitter rotates LEDs around a vertical axis and switches the blinking status per one degree of rotation. In this case, the camera can capture multiple blinking statuses as afterimages in a single frame. The amount of received data per captured image is increased by using afterimages, thus improving the data transmission rate even if a commercial camera with a low frame rate is used as the receiver. Furthermore, we also proposed an Alamouti-type spatio-temporal coding (STC) based on the afterimage of the LED light for further improving the demodulation performance. In the previous study, we evaluated this proposed coding method by computer simulations. This study evaluates the demodulation performance of the Alamouti-type STC by experiments using the rotary LED transmitter. The experimental results show that the proposed method extends the error-free transmission distance and improves the demodulation performance of long-distance communication compared to the conventional one of on-off keying (OOK). |
