Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the autonomous vehicle technology, the stable localization is required for safety driving. GNSS, LIDAR and Image sensor is known high accurate localization sensor. However, the accuracy of each sensor may deteriorate depending on the environment, such as under many obstructions or bad weather. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed vehicle speed estimation using millimeter-wave radar for surround monitoring. Although, the millimeter-wave radar can estimate range, Doppler and angle of the targets in any weather conditions, the localization using landmark is difficult because radar is lower resolution sensor than LIADR and image sensor. First, we estimate a Doppler-angle spectrum using2D discrete Fourier transform. The Doppler obtained from the stationary objects is related to the vehicle speed. The vehicle speed is estimated by obtaining the Doppler distribution related to the vehicle speed for each angle. We present an experiment of estimation the vehicle speed and driving distance. The in-vehicle speed sensor was difficult to measure the low-speed. However, the proposed method succeeded in estimating the vehicle speed including the low speed.
