Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The application of IoT devices is expanding. Model-based testing is one of the testing methods which fit well for IoT devices. In model-based testing, the model with which the system under test (SUT) interacts is expressed as an extended finite state machine and a testing tool like Modbat executes the model and checks its correctness. In our research, we extended Modbat's capability for IoT software testing. First, we implemented a simulator of an MQTT broker in Modbat. This allows the simulation of networking over MQTT protocol to be performed coordinately with the virtual time in Modbat and enables faster testing of SUT. In addition, we made it possible to simulate the delay of the communication between devices using the simulator, which extends the range of testing. Along with those, we also improved a library of virtual-time scheduler so that it can also schedule tasks based on real time and that tasks can schedule tasks recursively. Finally, we introduced new libraries that allow the exploitation of Modbat functionalities also from SUT, like virtual-time speedup and networking simulation, with just a small modification of original SUT code, which consequently enables testing SUT by executing the SUT program as a thread running independently to Modbat. With these improvements and new features, we conducted a case study on a simple drone controller program and observed their effectiveness. |
