Abstract(in English) | In the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic, the use of remote control for various tasks is accelerating. Under these circumstances, Holoportation, which enables remote communication with a sense of presence by sending and receiving 3D-captured video data of a remote person, has been attracting attention in recent years. However, there are two major problems for practical use: ensuring communication quality and large-scale data processing. We have previously proposed the basic concept of a Local 5G-based remote communication system. From the evaluation, we have shown that the system can work stably in real time even with large 3D data in UDP communication in one direction in downlink. However, the proposed system is limited to data transmission in one direction and cannot be used in a wider area at any given location. The purpose of this study is to realize a large scale 3D data transmission system in both directions and to present a basic concept for use in a wide range of arbitrary locations in remote communication system. In this paper, we propose the basic system design of remote communication system with Local 5G and large-scale data processing, and show that the system can transmit data in both directions. Furthermore, we propose a basic system design utilizing public 5G, and report our preliminary evaluation of the prototype system and conduct a feasibility study of the future system. |
