Remote estimation of relative sugar content in persimmon field by UAV with multi-spectral camera

Abstract(in English) For measuring sugar content of a fruit, we usually use a refractometer or a special device based on spectroscopy. A refractometer requires to cut and grate a fruit because it needs the juice of the fruit, whereas the spectroscopy device needs not to destroy a fruit. The spectroscopy device, however, can measure only one fruit each time and is expensive. In this paper, we propose a method for remotely measuring the sugar content in a persimmon field by using a multispectral camera equipped on UAV. Here, by using the results of sugar content measuring and spectroscopy, we try to find the regression between the bands of the multispectral camera and the sugar content, and to estimate the sugar contents from multispectral camera images. Then, we can visualize the sugar content in a whole field. We show the effectiveness of our method by using real multispectral cameraimages.
