[Encouragement Talk] A Study of API Priority Control to Improve Service Resource Utilization in Consideration of Timeout

Abstract(in English) Recently, mashup services, which combine multiple services using WebAPI etc. to increase added value, have become popular. Some mashup services cannot be provided unless all individual services are working properly. When a certain service is congested, requests from users are discarded during the processing. As a result, not only resources of each service consumed before being discarded are wasted, but also resent requests by users may cause congestion of other services. To solve this problem, we examined a method to hold processing of requests with using two buffers, when receiving the request for the mashup service and when sending the request to each service. However, this method have a problem that the hold time of requests becomes long, and they time out during processing and is discarded. In this paper, we focus the problem of our previous and propose a priority control method considering requests hold time, timeout and processing status of each service.
