A study of the Optimum Number of Repeating Beams in Multibeam Satellite Communication System

Abstract(in English) Multibeam satellite communication systems are widely constructed from the viewpoint of effective use of frequencies. However, there is a problem that the increase in the inter-beam interference power I tends to cause a decrease in throughput. Therefore, we have developed a multi-beam satellite communication simulator that can precisely calculate the received C / (N + I) in the service area considering inter-beam interference power I. Using this simulator, the system throughput was calculated under the total number of beams 19, 37, 61, and 91 with the number of repetitive beams R=1 to 10. The simulation results revealed that 91 total beams with 2 repeating beams is the optimum value for satellite communication systems
