Analysis of microfiber structures for fabricating multimode interference sensors

Abstract(in English) We theoretically investigated microfiber characteristics. We numerically analyzed the transmission characteristics due to the difference in microfiber structures using the beam propagation method (BPM). Analysis results revealed that the shortest waist length in the tapered region needs to be enlarged when fabricating multimode interference sensors. We also revealed that the sensitivity of refractive index measurement increase as the smallest diameter of tapered region decrease.
