Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The aim of this study is to detect diseases, such as coronary artery disease (CAD), whose symptoms may manifest as abnormalities in Korotkoff sounds (hereinafter referred to as K-sounds),sounds that are used to determine blood pressures. Toin University of Yokohama has recorded K-sounds from hundreds of elderly people at a nearby health and welfare facility for over 10 years. A study employing signal processing and statistical analysis on these data has been ongoing. The sounds appear to contain a wide range of disease-related information. This report offers some of the findings to date and discusses future prospects of this study.
