Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Visually induced self-motion perception (vection) refers to a perceptive phenomenon in which a person might feel like himself moving because of visual information even though he is actually stationary. Various stimulus attributes (e.g., the size of visual field, jitter, color) that could modify vection experiences have been examined by many laboratory psychological experiments. However, one important factor has not been investigated, i.e., the number of the stimulus components. The present study investigated how vection strength could be modified when the number of circles is increased. In addition, we also used some kinds of figures such as circle, triangle, quadrangle, pentagon with some kinds of colors or not to investigate whether vection could be modified when the subjective number is differentiated by using Gestalt law (grouping) even though the physical number is the same. |
