Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We examined the dynamics of facial skin blood flow (SkBF) during and after the processing of emotional stimuli accompanied by blushing. Thirty participants observed five seconds stimuli that combined three facial expressions (neutral, angry, embarrassed) and two-color changes (blushing or no blushing). Results showed that facial SkBF generally decreased regardless of stimulus types and decreased especially during processing angry expressions with blushing compared to neutral expressions with blushing and angry expressions without blushing. During five seconds after stimulus processing, facial SkBF increased compared with during five seconds of stimulus processing; however, SkBF did not exceed baseline in angry expressions with blushing. Participants did not aware of the blushing of stimuli. These results show the changes in facial SkBF during potential emotional processing, and facial SkBF dynamics after emotional processing supports the cooling theory in facial SkBF. |
