Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Although many previous studies have investigated panic behavior in indoor disasters, there are some problems such as experimental environments with a small number of participants and with unrealistic situations. Therefore, we built a VR-based verification platform for analyzing of panic behavior in indoor disasters. In the virtual indoor facilities, a participant freely walks around; however, disaster events suddenly occur and he or she is required to escape the exit. At that time, the platform can measure physiological responses (e.g., heartbeat, skin potential, and fingertip temperature), gaze, and position data. In future work, we conduct the experiment and investigate whether panic behavior is confirmed, such as a participant follows agents which escapes to the blocked exits. In addition, we will investigate the differences of physiological responses and gaze data between panic and non-panic participant groups.
