Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The $alpha$-cells in the pancreatic islets are electrically excitable and secrete glucagon in response to low blood glucose levels. The mechanism by which glucose regulates the glucagon secretion is not clear in detail. On the one hand, ATP-sensitive $rm K^{+}$ channels and store-operated currents are considered as one of the regulation mechanisms (intrinsic mechanisms). On the other hand, it is reported that factors released from other cells within islet also regulate secretion of glucagon. In this study, we used the mathematical model for $alpha$-cells which takes into account electrical activity, $rm Ca^{2+}$-dynamics, and the influence of ATP-sensitive $rm K^{+}$ channels, store-operated currents and insulin released from $beta$-cells. Then we investigate how these mechanisms regulate the glucagon-secretion in $alpha$-cell responding to the blood glucose levels. |
