Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In Internet of things (IoT) devices, low power wide area (LPWA) has been attracting attention, and LoRa modulation is an important modulation technology in LPWA. The demodulation and decoding process is simplified in LoRa receivers with the aid of hard decision values yielded from demodulator to decoder. However, in this case, quantization (rounding) error may occur mutual information loss. In this paper, we propose a method for log-likelihood ratio (LLR) and error correction based on the soft decision of the demodulator output, as well as iterative detection and decoding (IDD) scheme. Assuming Rayleigh fading environments, the log-likelihood ratios for coherent and non-coherent detection are defined and blind channel estimation for LoRA is proposed. The transmission characteristics are clarified in terms of bit error rate (BER) by computer simulations.
