A Study on Impact of Adjacent-channel Interference on Transmission Performance in Asynchronous FBMC/OFDM Systems under Multipath Fading Condition

Abstract(in English) Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) surpasses multipath fading by inserting a guard interval (GI), which is suitable for broadband wireless communications. However, OFDM interferes with neighboring systems due to high out-of-band (OOB) radiation. On the other hand, filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) is an alternative multicarrier approach, which enables OOB radiation reduction, owing to subcarrier-wise filtering. However, it suffers from multipath fading-resulted inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI). In this report, we evaluate the bit error rate (BER) performance of asynchronous FBMC/OFDM systems, considering the adjacent-channel interference (ACI) and multipath fading, using computer simulations. Further, we validate the influence of the asynchronous system-level differences on the transmission performance.
