Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) While conducting multimedia design education such as interactive installations and experiential games, we have been focusing on "interoception," which is deeply related to emotion/feeling and decision-making, and "biofeedback," which is deeply related to rehabilitation, dementia prevention, and mental health care. We have been conducting experiments and prototyping for the application of bio-sensing. In this presentation, we present (1) a wellness-oriented interactive multimedia system using tactile/kinesthetic sensors with haptic feedback, (2) a biofeedback installation system using EMG sensors, and (3) a shooting game that senses the tilt of the head (→ Relaxation for stiff shoulders/neck in the COVID-19 disaster). Three design cases will be discussed, and examples of how open-source culture has made it possible for design students who are not science and engineering majors to realize systems that actually work will be introduced.
