Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Brillouin optical fiber correlation-domain analysis (BOCDA) exhibits superior performance as a high-sensitivity and high spatial-resolution distributed sensor of strain and temperature along optical fibers. A pseudo-random bit stream (PRBS) phase-coded BOCDA is known to have a short spatial resolution of Δz=vgT/2, where vg is the group velocity of the light wave and T is the bit duration of PRBS, with long measurement ranges along the fiber. The spatial resolution can be made much smaller by applying short-pulse modulation on the light source for the PRBS phase-coded BOCDA. In this paper we present a numerical analysis of the short-pulse PRBS phase-coded BOCDA.
