[Invited Lecture] Analysis of OLEDs using delayed luminescence method

Abstract(in English) By applying the delayed emission method to the Alq3 organic EL device, we succeeded in measuring the emission spectrum with a delay time exceeding 10ms ~ about 10 minutes after the applied voltage was turned off. Due to detect remarkable weak light, we have utilized a highly sensitive Fourier transform interference spectrometer. The emission spectra measured at a short delay time less than 10ms were almost the same as the steady-state EL spectrum. This fact suggests the formation of delayed-fluorescence via triplet-triplet annihilation. On the other hand, when the delay time exceeds 10ms, a red-shifted emission spectrum clearly different from the fluorescence spectrum was obtained. This emission would be produced by charge recombination at the deep trap state. Unlike free-charge recombination, it cannot provide the energy required for S1 level formation, but it suggests that the T1 level can be excited.
