Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we propose an adaptive beaconing method in order to improve communication performance in a system that enables pedestrians to communicate with IEEE 802.11ad APs equipped in vehicles passing through the pedestrians. This method consists of adjusting a beacon transmission interval according to speed of vehicles and an asynchronous beacon transmission. The proposed method can increase communication time because pedestrians can receive beacons early and have opportunities to communicate with vehicle APs. In addition, the number of vehicle APs that pedestrians can connect to is increased by preventing beacon transmissions of neighboring vehicle APs from overlapping. Thus, our proposed method can aim to improve communication performance. As a result of quantitative evaluation, a throughput is increased by 495% and communication break time is decreased by 85% compared to a conventional method when a speed of vehicles V is 80 km/h and the number of passing vehicles F is 20 units/10 s. |
