Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A visual system separately processes the feature information embedded in an object, such as color, shape, and motion. Therefore, a system should integrate multiple types of feature information to generate perception of meaningful visual objects. This requirement is known as the binding problem. However, previous studies have cast doubt on the need for an additional process to integrate multiple types of feature information, assuming that neurons selective for feature conjunctions associate multiple types of feature information. Focusing on the feature information types of color and motion processed by distinct brain pathways, we investigated the microgenesis of the integrated perception of color and motion by estimating the temporal resolution of color, motion, and integrated perception.
