Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we focus on periodical top-k query in on-demand wireless sensor networks (WSNs) employing wake-up receivers. In order to save energy in top-k query, we need to design a wake-up control activating only required nodes to grasp the desired top-k set. Focusing on the temporal correlation of data observed by sensor nodes, in our previous work, we have proposed a wake-up control identifying the exact top-k set by activating only the minimum subset of nodes providing information on the difference of top-k set between different rounds of query. However, the conventional scheme cannot suppress the unnecessary wake-up by adapting to the required accuracy when a user executes an approximate top-k query that does not require 100% accuracy. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new wake-up control that can collect approximate top-k set maintaining high ranking accuracy while achieving high energy efficiency. We evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed wake-up control with computer simulations employing a practical MAC (Medium Access Control) protocol.
