| Abstract(in English) | Toward the practical application of the 5th generation mobile communication system (5G), the 5th Generation Mobile Promotion Forum (5GMF), which was established in September 2014, decided to conduct a comprehensive verification trials of 5G in Japan, and it was assumed that the trials will be carried out by linking radio communications, networks, applications and terminals. From FY2015 to FY2016, 5GMF established a task force and a 5G trial promotion group in sequence to discuss the specific contents of the trials. Then, in 2017, “5G Field Trials” led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) were started. To create a new market by realizing 5G, the trials were conducted nationwide for various use cases over the three years up to FY2019 with the participation of stakeholders in various fields of utilization. In this report, the history of the activities of the 5G trial promotion group and the promotion results of the 5G Field Trials are summarized. |
