Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | To realize a society in which visually impaired people can obtain and touch what they want to know whenever they like and wherever they live, we have been offering a 3D model creation and sending service according to the demands of visually impaired people. The first half of this paper reports on the usage of this service from November 2010 to October 2015. Precisely, analysis of the requests, procedure of 3D printing, and opinions and remarks from the service users are described. The last half of this paper reports on the questionnaire on the recognition of 3D models. The responses to the questionnaire made us think that one or a mix of visual, tactual, and textual experiences to the object facilitated its recognition and that tactile exploration history did not affect much the perception of tactile features of the 3D models. These results made us conclude that the enrichment of the instructions on 3D models and the participation of visually impaired people in making these instructions are very important. |
