Twist- and bend-induced mode conversion in coupled multi-core fibers

Abstract(in English) The propagation characteristics of coupled 3-core fibers under twisting and bending conditions are analyzed using beam propagation method. We found that mode conversions are possible in the coupled 3-core fibers under constant bending radius by adding a twist, whose period is close to the beat length calculated from eigenmodes of bended fibers.
